54 conference participants have represented business, civil society and the Armenian Ministry for Nature Protection. They were welcomed by the NABU CEO Leif Miller, Vice-Minister for Nature Protection Simon Papyan, the German Ambassador in Armenia Reiner Morell and the head of the NABU Focal Program “Caucasus” Vitalij Kovalev.
After the welcoming, the project team has showed presentations on the biodiversity of Armenia and on the project results. A lively discussion on how to continue the work on the issue has followed. The NABU will carry on finalizing the exemplary projects for business co-operations while the Ministry for Nature Protection will support such co-operations further. Together, the partners plan to seek for new financing opportunities to realize new similar projects, in order to intensify the first steps towards the green economy in Armenia.
The most exciting moment of the conference was the notification about the winners of the competition of best ideas for small projects on nature conservation, which was open for applicants since the spring 2014. Before the conference, a jury founded by Armenian Ministry for Nature Protection and NABU has chosen three ideas out of eleven applications for the best ones. The winners have been openly honored in the front of the audience with certificates and small grants for project realization.
