In order to achieve the project’s main aim of protecting the biodiversity through companies working with nature conservation NGOs and public authorities, two interim targets are being put in place:
- Those involved in environmental protection and nature conservation along with those involved in the management of the environment are to gain qualifications with a focus on the contribution business can make in protecting ecological diversity;
- Engaging businesses in biodiversity protection is a theme which is to be brought more into mainstream public opinion in Armenia.
In order to achieve the project aims the project partners are implementing a number of measures. First of all, three workshops are to take place in Armenia with planning targeted at representatives from each sector.
After the workshops a Stakeholder Consultation Forum is to take place where all three sectors are to meet each other, enter into discussion and develop ideas for “business cases for biodiversity” together. Within the framework of the forum a competition for similar ideas is to be launched and at the same time two small model projects are to start. In addition, close collaboration with the press is to be sought. This will have particular importance at the conference held at the end of the project when prizes will be awarded to the competition winners who have had the best ideas in competition. This is to be broadcast by the media.
